-"My balance hasn't been paid on in a while, will this affect my credit rating?" Medical Billing Z is not affiliated with any credit rating organization. If a patient is responsible for a balance 120 days or older we will recommend to the patient's physician that the patient's account be sent to a collection agency, which will affect the patient's credit rating. However if a balance 120 days or older is responsible due to delinquency of an insurance company Medical Billing Z will not recommend the account be sent to a collection agency. In many cases insurance companies are required by law to pay on a claim within 30 days of receiving it. If an insurance company fails to meet this requirement they are subject to interest penalties. Patient's don't need to worry as these penalties will not affect their premium and are the sole responsibility of the insurance company and won't appear on your account statement.
